Augusto LaMarshall

Augusto is the founder and producer of the world's most famous Queer Tango milonga, Milonga La Marshall, and one of the organizers of the International Queer Tango Festival of Buenos Aires. Together with Miguel Moyano, Augusto formed the first professional gay tango couple to perform in Buenos Aires and Europe. He later co-created the dance company Propuesta which extensively toured the globe. Augusto was part of the jury at both the Metropolitano and Mundial Tango Championships in Buenos Aires. For his dedication to the integration of Tango into the gay community, Augusto was included in the book "The History of Tango", published by Corregidor in 2011. Invited as a guest lecturer, teacher and performer at Queer Tango Festivals all over the world, year after year, Augusto's career has taken him to England, Denmark, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Uruguay, Hamburg, The Czech Republic, France, Cyprus, Russia and North America.

Augusto has had a unique role in the evolution of modern tango in Buenos Aires, one which promotes an inclusive and egalitarian culture where anyone can lead, follow, or switch roles regardless of their biology or gender identity. We are excited to welcome him to DC and invite him to help us build this type of culture within our own tango community.

For more information about Augusto’s visit or to schedule a private lesson, please contact our Queer Tango Program Manager, Liz Sabatiuk.
