Join us as we celebrate the Black History Month with a live panel discussion :
learn about the historical influence of African music/rhythm on what is now known as Argentine Tango including the roots of Candombe and Milonga.
learn about TM’s initiatives to enhance the diversity of our dancers community at the DC Metro area, focusing on dancers of African American descent, and make sure everyone is welcome in the community.
participate in a community discussion soliciting ideas/feedback on how to encourage and ensure inclusivity in our programs.

AMANDA GARLEY
Artistic Director, Tango Mercurio Dance School
AYONA WEAVER
A member of the DC Tango dance community and other communities across the US, including LA and Chicago. She is also an active member of other partner dance genres including Kizomba, Salsa and Bachata.
VALERIE HIGGS
Music Director in the DC Metro area and the principal pianist of the DC Tango Orchestra, the Da Capo Tango Quintet, and the Tango Reo ensemble.
CHARLES NKOHO
Primarily a dancer and choreographer of Brazilian Zouk, he also dances Lambada, Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, and Argentine Tango. He travels across the U.S. and internationally to enjoy and enrich his favorite hobby, dancing.
