In our first new edition of our Live Music Program, Tango Mercurio joined professional musicians from RÓMEZ3arts for a concert of tangos, opera arias, and more, with dance performances by our own Aja Fenn and Gabriel “El Huracán” Gaumond, on November 2 at St. Paul’s Church in NW Washington.

Piano virtuoso Carlos César Rodríguez, mezzo soprano Anamer Castrello, and tenor Peter Joshua Burroughs brought such classic tangos as El día que me quieras and Naranjo en flor.

Tango Mercurio’s resident tango historian Alexandra Russell MC’d with Peter, introducing the stories and lyrics to the program selections, which included the famous Habanera from Bizet’s “Carmen” and Mexican bolero Bésame mucho.
