Tango Mercurio Receives GOS Grant from DCCAH

Exciting News from Tango Mercurio!

We are thrilled to announce that Tango Mercurio has received a generous $63,308 General Operating Support grant from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities! This grant empowers us to advance our mission of fostering cultural understanding and unity through Argentine Tango and to broaden participation in this beautiful art form across the District of Columbia.

Building Community Through Tango

Argentine Tango is more than just a dance—it’s a cultural bridge that brings together people of all backgrounds. With this support, we’ll:
Offer 200 hours of dance instruction and 80 hours of social dance events, creating spaces for connection and joy during the grant year.
Expand our Community Outreach Program, providing immersive tango experiences for older adults, youth, and underrepresented groups in partnership with organizations like Arts for the Aging and DC Strings.
Host celebratory dance socials for Black History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, and the LGBTQ+ community, alongside discussions on diversity, equity, and inclusion in tango.
Develop a multi-year outreach strategy to bring tango to underserved Wards in DC.
Enrich the community with live music events, deepening our connection to tango’s musical roots.
