Tango Mercurio and the DC Queer Tango Collective hosted an event at La Cosecha on June 9 to celebrate Pride Month 2024. “Insights from a Tango Dialogue” was a free, public panel discussion about diversity in the tango community in Washington, DC, and beyond. It addressed both the opportunities and challenges of creating inclusive spaces through Queer Tango, in which dancers are free to choose nontraditional roles.

Tango Mercurio Awarded Two New Grants

We're proud to announce we've been awarded a $15,000 grant from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities in support of our programs through next September.

And we're getting a $25,000 grant over five years to help develop our fundraising capacity from the Mihir Desai Foundation, a Virginia-based philanthropic organization. The two grants will help us expand our offerings under all our programs--classes, events and outreach.

September 2022 : Friday Classes moving from Balance Gym Thomas Circle to Balance Gym Capitol Hill

At the end of July, Balance Gym closed their Thomas Circle location.

This Fall, starting Friday, September 16, Tango Mercurio's Friday classes and practica will be held at Balance Gym Capitol Hill.

We will continue with the same format as before. Two parallel classes (6:30-8:00pm) followed by a combined practica (8:00-8:45pm).

Please note that classes start @ 6:30pm - an hour earlier than in the past.

Parking is ample and easy at the new location.
